The mission of CrossFit West Springfield and our CrossFit Kids program is to help your children become the best version of themselves. We are committed to empowering children and young adults with the skills necessary to maximize their physical development, understand basic nutritional concepts and form the foundation for healthy habits both mentally and physically
Our CrossFit Kids program uses a combination of skill practice, workouts and games to develop the 10 General Physical Skills.
Some of which include: strength, power, stamina, coordination, and balance. Our classes include elements of gymnastics, weight lifting, body weight movements, running, jump roping, and more. Our Crossfit Kids coaches are dedicated to this methodology as well as the Crossfit Kids mission: Doing what is best for children.
It is intended to get kids moving in new and challenging ways, all while having a ton of fun. Fun means we provide an active alternative to sedentary pursuits, which means less childhood obesity and all-around better health for our children. This means that safety is our paramount concern, good form and proper technique is always stressed while practicing these movements and skills. or any age or experience level and accounts for the varied maturation status one can find in a class full of kids.
Although all the kids will learn the same movements and skills, the workout is tailored to fit the specific needs of each individual athlete, affording each child the opportunity to maximize their learning and development. We carefully look at age, ability and movement patterns to determine the most appropriate placement for the kids.

“Functional Movement” refers to maintaining the safest, most-efficient position to maximize power for any movement. There are plenty of misconceptions out there about CrossFit; the truth is much of what we do in our workouts mirrors activities in our daily lives. To the uninitiated, lifting a weighted object off the ground multiple times. But if you’ve ever had to lift a box and carry it up a flight of stairs, or lift a child to your shoulder, you already know the movement. Cleaning a medicine ball may appear odd, but consider what your body does when you place your suitcase in a plane’s overhead compartment. If you’ve ever lifted a heavy bag of dog food or garden mulch, no one needs to tell you the importance of protecting your back. CrossFit West Springfield will help you maintain the correct position in your workouts – and carry those skills over into your everyday life.
