Summer Sport Development Program

ICON Sports Performance offers training programs for athletes of all gender, skill level, or athletic goals. Our core programs are designed for middle school, high school, and elite athletes, as well as teams. All training sessions take place in a small group setting to encourage cooperative and competitive social development. All athletes will benefit from the motivational aspect of training in a group environment, while also receiving the individual attention needed to elevate their performance.

7-9th graders/Ages 12-14

GOALS:

  • Focus on movement mechanics, agility, and speed.
  • Development of core strength and proper technique
  • Wholesome nutritional habits to help maximize their performance.
  • Proper strength training and weight room etiquette.

 

Our Developmental Performance Program incorporates a two step approach of proper neuromuscular pattern development and strength and power training.

During this stage, athletes are discovering the importance of developing proper movement patterns. Athletic fundamentals are developed and directed towards sport application. This program focuses on improvement of athletic movement while refining and ingraining fundamental skills of explosive speed, agility, and power. This repeated practice leads to permanent and positive athletic change.

The inclusion of formal Strength and Power training throughout each 90 minute session provides benefits in two ways. First, the focus of proper movement technique will lead to increased force production ending with maximized muscular growth potential. Secondly, as athletes continue to grow and increase in height, weight, and strength, the need for improved joint stability is vital for reducing the chance of injury.

  • First Day: Monday, June 27, 2016
  • Last Day: Thursday, August 25, 2016
  • Class Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
  • Class Time: 11am – 12:30pm
  • Cost: $250/athlete

Important Dates:

  • There will be no classes on the following days:
  • Monday, 7/4 and Monday, 7/11

Sample Class Structure: 90 minute class

  • 0-10:00 Warmup
  • 10:00 – 30:00 Speed/Agility Training
  • 30:00 – 35:00 Break
  • 35:00 – 65:00 Strength Training/Technique Development
  • 65:00 – 80:00 Core Conditioning
  • 80:00 – 90:00 Cool Down/Stretch

  • Linear speed refinement, lateral reactionary movement, and aerobic conditioning.
  • Wholesome nutritional habits to help maximize their performance.
  • Proper strength training and weight room etiquette.

Athletes within our Elite Performance Program have developed neuromuscular patterns and the fundamental skills of speed, agility, and power. Within this program, athletes technique is refined and polished to build the total athlete. In essence, each athlete is optimized according to their biggest areas of improvement. During the 90 minute EPP sessions, training begins to resemble sporting demands. The Elite Performance program will focus on repeated application of learned athleticism to conceive mastery. We provide varied situations of athletic skill training so competing in the game is effortless. In addition, we continue to focus on Strength and Power development through moderate and heavy loads to optimize power output.
