- CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, CF-L1
I found CrossFit because some people were doing it at the gym on Fort Benning where I was serving in the Army. I tried some WODs on my own with pretty poor technique but I loved it. I went to the local affiliate and I was instantly hooked. Fran was my first. It took almost ten minutes. I couldn’t wait to get to the gym each day. I also started correcting my diet because I realized that drinking Coke several times a day was not helping me get through WODs.
One day a coach asked me to demo the movements. That started happening more and more. I convinced the Army to pay for my Level 1 as soon as I found one close to me. I told the coaches at my original box that I had finished my Level 1 and I just started showing up at WODs, telling the coach that I was going to help and with whatever they wanted me to do.
I coached for about two years and never made a dime. I didn’t care. Coaching is my passion. I do it every chance I get because I LOVE helping people improve themselves and accomplish things they didn’t think they could.
